Cabárceno Nature Park

The Cabárceno Nature Park is not a conventional zoo or a natural park, but a naturalized space by the hand of man, from the primitive beauty of its karstic landscape, on the 750 hectares of an old open pit mining. The Park is home to over a hundred animal species from the five continents that live in semi-freedom, which are distributed in large-area enclosures where one or more species coexist. In the park, life develops in the most natural environment possible for the animals that inhabit it. Except for the food that is provided to them, the rest of the activities are marked by their almost total freedom and instinct.

Visitors will be accompanied by specialized staff, who will tell you what the park’s philosophy is and why it is considered one of the world’s best conserved parks. During the entire visit, park staff will also prioritize safety.

Your tour of the park will include a visit the rhinoceros and elephant enclosures in two separate groups.

You will depart towards Comillas, an unforgettable villa that evokes ancient times in which the greatest number of ecclesiastics gathered within the most imposing building of the town – the Pontifical University. There you will experience the calm of its beach, well protected by the statue of the benefactor of the place – Don Antonio López, Marqués de Comillas.

You will gain entrance to “El Capricho” designed by Antoni Gaudí. The villa, built in 1883-85, was for the summer use of a wealthy client, Máximo Díaz de Quijano.

After lunch, you will visit Santillana del Mar, with its cobbled streets which transport you to times in which the nobility of the great lineages of the Middle Ages and the town mixed in the streets, full of emblazoned houses and palaces. You will tour to this amazing town, with entrance and guided visit to the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana, whose church and cloister are “the jewel of Santillana”.
