Port Arthur Tour and Bangor Vineyard Lunch
Embark on a coach journey to the stunning Tasman Peninsula before stopping at Port Arthur Lavender farm for morning tea. Nestled within seven hectares of lavender, rainforest and lakes and overlooking the ocean at Long Bay, Port Arthur Lavender’s visitor centre and café showcase millennia-old uses of this fragrant flower and a fully functioning essential oil distillery. Stroll around the lavender trail on a self-guided tour and observe the distilling process before taking in the ocean views while enjoying fresh Tasmanian produce in the lavender-inspired café.
A short drive away is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic Site, an important Australian historical destination. As a mid-19th century penal settlement, Port Arthur has been a place of hardship and punishment, a place of opportunity and a place where Australia’s colonial history is written in stone and brick. Guests will experience a guided tour encompassing the experience of Port Arthur, significant landmarks, its people and its past ending in a 20-minute harbour cruise. After an opportunity to visit the gift shop, guests will depart by coach to Bangor Vineyard Shed.
Bangor is a 4-hectare vineyard and 6000-hectare superfine merino, prime beef and lamb property run by 7th generation Tasmanians. The vineyard grows small batch pinot noir, pinot gris and chardonnay, all of which will be sampled alongside a paired tasting menu. Guests will be welcomed with an overview and rich history of the family and Bangor property, before enjoying their tasting and lunch, wine, tea and coffee. Guests can spend some time outdoors taking in the views and walking through the vines before taking the coach back to Hobart.
